With the golf season coming to an end, Torin Trummer and the rest of the Mount Vernon golf team are beginning to prepare for a new kind of game in the district tournament.
During the regular season, the team is matched against only one other team, but in this tournament, every school in the National District participates.
Mount Vernon is considered to be one of the top contenders as they take on teams like Yorktown and Edison.
According to Trummer, "consistency" is the key to winning districts. Everybody on the team needs to be on his A-game for the team to do well in the tournament. Only Mount Vernon's top players are going to the tournament so this means that it will only be the best participating in the tournament. Trevor Meadows is Mount Vernon's best player so he will be a great asset to the team's success.
Brian Fitzsimmons is Mount Vernon's sophomore golf superstar. Trummer thinks that he is a great player and is increasing his skills every day. He is already one of Mount Vernon's top 3 players, and a person to watch in the tournament.
Mount Vernon should place at least in the top 2 at the end of the tournament. The top competition for the tournament is Yorktown, Edison, and Falls Church. They lost to Yorktown and Falls Church, but came out Victorious against Edison. If Mount Vernon shoots better than those 3 teams then they should have no problem winning 1st.
