In a match against Falls Church, the varsity Volleyball team won its first game in two years, marking a significant shift in the momentum of the program.
The team is showing improvement every game. Parents of players come up to the new volleyball coach, Ms. Lashley, and say they are looking better than they did last year. The team practices two and a half hours every day after school, and have been working very hard.
Additionally, the freshman team has had some success, which means a bright future for the volleyball program.
The team ended their two year drought, beating Falls Church in one of the games. Ms. Lashley said, "Our next goal is to win a match." She also said the teams they play have great talent, with players who play volleyball year round.
September 11th they almost broke through against Wakefield. Both teams had won two games, but Wakefield ended up winning the fifth game 15-6. Hopefully Mt. Vernon can come away victorious next time.
In order to win a match, a team must win 2 out of 3 games.
